Frequently Asked Questions

1. How should I prepare for my upcoming premium audit?

Please ensure that a representative familiar with your business records and daily operations is available. Have your payroll journals, federal tax returns, and subcontractor certificates of insurance ready for review.

2. What documents are required for a Workers’ Compensation or General Liability audit?

For a Workers’ Compensation audit, we typically request payroll and financial records such as federal 941s, state unemployment (SUI) reports, profit and loss statements, and detailed payroll records for W-2 employees. We also review subcontractor payments, including 1099 labor, cash payments, and vendor reports, along with certificates of insurance (COIs) for any insured subcontractors.

For a General Liability audit, requirements vary depending on the nature of the business. Construction-related businesses generally require similar documentation as Workers’ Compensation audits. Other industries may only need sales information, such as gross receipts broken down by location, entity, or state.

3. How long does the audit process typically take?

Most virtual or phone-based audits are completed within 45 to 90 minutes. The duration of a physical on-site audit depends on the size and complexity of your organization and the records provided.

4. Is my business information kept secure and confidential?

Absolutely. We use enterprise-grade secure portals for document collection. All policyholder information is hosted on independent secure servers with multiple layers of encryption and professional firewall protection.

5. Can I reschedule my audit appointment?

Yes, we understand that schedules may change. Please contact your assigned auditor at least 48 hours in advance to reschedule your appointment to a more convenient time.

6. How will I receive the final results of my audit?

Once our quality control team verifies the audit, the final report is submitted directly to your insurance carrier or MGA. They use this information to determine your final premium, which may result in either a refund if you overpaid or an additional premium due if you underpaid.

Please note that premium calculations are determined solely by the carrier, and we do not influence the outcome. Our role is to accurately complete the audit based on the information provided. Once the audit is finalized and submitted, any billing decisions are handled by the carrier. However, we are always available to answer questions regarding how the audit was conducted and the information used.

Still have questions?

If you need assistance during your audit or after it has been completed, please contact your assigned auditor directly. If you’re unable to reach them or need additional support, you can call our office or submit the form, and a member of our audit support team will follow up with you.
